Made in Italy: PMT Tyres

The Italian tyre manufacturer PMT (Pauselli Modell Tyres) has been in existence since 1990, originally producing tyres for RC cars and the popular Italian minibike racing series. Since they have also developed tyres for motorcycles and especially racing tyres for scooters, they have very quickly achieved a top position among the favourite tyres of racing drivers. The PMT tyres are available in perfect compounds for the various soil, weather and temperature conditions.

PMT Tyres Rain & Intermediate

Slick, mixture: hard

The slick with hard compound is ideal for tracks with high asphalt temperatures and heavy use due to many exchange bends and braking manoeuvres. The hard compound is the most abrasion resistant and can therefore be used very well in Endurance / long distance races. The warm-up phase for the optimum operating temperature (~ 80° C) is significantly longer with this compound than with the “medium” or “soft” compound.
The recommended air pressure for front is 1.2-1.3 bar and for rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Slick, mixture: medium

The medium bridges the gap between the hard and persistent as well as the extremely well adhering but also quickly wearing soft mixture. The medium thus covers a very wide range of applications. Its optimum operating temperature is ~ 75°C and, like the hard compound, requires a longer running-in time than the soft compound to reach temperature.
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and for the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Slick, compound: soft

The soft PMT compound offers full grip even at lower temperatures. It wears out correspondingly quickly at higher temperatures and then no longer offers its full grip level. On the other hand, it reaches its optimum operating temperature of 70°C very quickly.
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and between 1.4-1.9 bar for the rear.

Slick, rain

PMT offers with the Rain Slick a new interpretation of an intermediate. Based on the rubber compound of the pure rain tyre, an intermediate with slick tread pattern has been created. It is ideal for changeable weather conditions with the same proportion of wet and dry sections.
The recommended inflation pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and for the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Rain Racing

The rain tyre from PMT plays in the highest league of rain experts for the circuit.
Whoever mounted this tyre needs a good excuse if it didn’t work out with a good placement…
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and for the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Drag race

The Drag Race tyres from PMT are ideal for all quartermill engines.
Here no grip is lost and all power is transferred to the asphalt without slip.
This also means that there is no mercy for clutch or gearbox..

The key spiral – a classic newly discovered

I had one – everyone used to have one and it was ‘cool’, the key spiral! And this video makes my heart race:

We scooter riders, mods & scooterboys quickly discovered this practical spiral for us: because the different key types for ignition lock, steering lock and/or luggage compartment lock can be connected flexibly but safely.

With this super lanyard, all keys form a unit, but do not hinder each other during operation: ignition key and steering lock/luggage compartment key remain in their lock and are connected by the key spiral. So each of the two keys is quickly at hand and the flexible PVC material protects the paint.

We have the key spirals in 15cm-60cm (the 15cm version can be stretched to 60cm) and 30cm-100cm (the 30cm version can be stretched to 100cm) length. The coloured versions are translucent, i.e. they are coloured but still transparent.

Fitted with a key ring on both sides.

  1. TIP : Also ideal to attach e.g. the house and car keys to the trousers!
  2. TIP : The tape can be deformed with a hair dryer at will, e.g. if the angled end should be straight.

QUALITY

The product is completely Made in Europe: the brake shoes of the Scooter Center brand BGM PRO are manufactured exclusively for BGM by one of the most renowned >strong> Italian brake pad manufacturers. The material comes from the German manufacturer Beral. The brake pad carrier made of aluminium is cast in the original Piaggio moulds, so a perfect fit is always guaranteed. Developed by BGM in the Scooter Center in Cologne.

BRAKE POWER

The optimum pad compound for the BGM PRO brake pad has a high coefficient of friction averaging over 0.54µ. This coefficient of friction can be easily maintained over a wide temperature range. The BGM PRO brake pad can therefore withstand temperature peaks of up to 350°C and is also suitable for the toughest applications!

BRAKE DOSAGE

Extensive tests in product development show that the scooter’s braking behaviour is immediately powerful, but can also be optimally controlled. These good characteristics of a brake system do not diminish even under high loads. The chosen Beral brake pad for our bgm brake shoes with an average pad hardness of 71 shore shows itself optimally and offers a clear feedback at the brake lever.

ENVIRONMENT

The BGM brake pad material is manufactured without the use of solvents. It contains no heavy metal compounds and of course no asbestos. The BGM PRO brake pads are deliberately not painted for environmental reasons. Manufactured according to ECE R-90.

DELIVERY SCOPE

The scope of delivery includes:

Summer time is travel time – use a luggage rack now

Just in time for the summer holidays, the popular luggage racks from FA Italia are now available.

Folding luggage racks are simply hung at the top of the leg shield and fixed on the sides with the enclosed tensioning screws. This makes it easy to stow bulky luggage. Before the trip, the load is secured with the help of our tension straps and lashing straps – and the tour can start.

When not in use, the carrier can be removed in no time at all. But it’s better to leave it on, because you certainly don’t have to hide the great carriers!

Vespa PK S mit Kantemschutz

The Vespa PK S models and the big sister Vespa PK ETS have become cult models among the Vespa Smallframe models. These scooter models have developed into sought-after vehicles.

From Piaggio, the list of original spare parts still available for the first models of the PK series is getting shorter and shorter.
Beside the peculiarities like

  • Speedo,
  • tank and the
  • Handlebar cover,

is certainly the edge protector for the leg shield / Leg shield beading of one of the most sought-after spare parts. With the PK S, this Leg shield beading  is a design that it does not share with later models, which makes this part even rarer!

 

 

The rare spare part was not available for a long time.

Now, after almost a year and the examination of many samples, we can offer the edge protection of the PKS/ETS models again in very good quality and fit.
The available colours are: silver (as in the original) and new: also in black.

The Vespa PKS is independent when assembling the edge protectors, because the edge protectors are riveted to a tread strip end piece.
We can offer the necessary end pieces of the step strips in various sets.
The following variants are available:

Simple assembly:

You need a drill/drill, and a riveter tool

  1. The heads of the blind rivets of the front, outer step strips must be removed by drilling. The end pieces thus release the old edge protection. The remains of the blind rivets remain in the old end pieces, so the end pieces, which are usually already damaged, can unfortunately no longer be used.
  2. The new edge protector is guided downwards from above, simultaneously on both sides in the bead of the leg shield.
  3. The two curves at the top are hooked into the bead.
  4. The new edge protection is hooked in with the new tread strip end pieces at the bottom and the tread strip end pieces are fastened with blind rivets.
  5. Finished :-)

Optimised asymmetrical silent blocks by bgm PRO

The engine of your Vespa requires two different engine mountings, the one for the right side (heavy engine side) and the other for the left side (light exhaust side).

We developed the optimised silent blocks for Vespa Smallframe and Largeframe, as well as for the Lambretta. These silent blocks are now also available for Vespa PK.

The bgm PRO silent blocks give much better handling thanks to a more precise guidance of the engine in the engine casing. The reinforced rubbers have an asymmetrical degree of hardness. Therefore, even with stiff suspensions, you can still have a good ride comfort.

Thanks to the reinforced engine mountings, available in set, you have a better tracking, steering precision and stiffness. The fitting is easy and their replacement is recommended e.g. during the engine overhaul.

Easy fitting

Vespa PX 200, V50, PV125 ET3, PK

These models feature inserted rubbers. Remove the old rubbers from the engine casing.
Put the new bgm PRO silent blocks in the engine casing using a little bit of talcum.

Vespa PX80-150, Sprint, VBB, etc.

These models feature standard pressed silent blocks.
To get these out of the casing you have to grind, cut or drill off the ends. Then you take off the tube and rubbers from the casings. Put the new bgm PRO rubbers into the casings using a little bit of talcum.

Notice

Please do not grease or oil the new rubbers. Mount them dry and use talcum to ease up the fitting.

Top touring comfort

The Yankee is an extremely comfortable touring seat. Under the seat cover you have two separated and ergonomic cushions. Besides, the seat surface of the pillion is higher and therefore very comfortable also for the second passenger. The seat also ensures an optimal sitting position and the cushion is made of high-density polyutherane foams (PU) for the highest comfort.

The frame of the seat is made of robust, black painted metal.

The legendary seat from the 80s and 90s is back. Its design is unique, with the characteristic screen print with the double “G” of the Giuliari logo and the Yankee lettering on the back of the seat. The seat is made of stitched synthetic leather, with high UV resistance and of course also waterproof.

The lock is included in the item and is also available as replacement in our online shop.

Test the best!

If you actually do not like this kind of “comfort design”, you should test this touring seat all the same and maybe use it as a second seat for long tours and journeys. For commuting or a sportive ride you can use the common extraflat sport seat.

Vespa Hauptständer Soft Stop bgm PRO Smallfram & Largeframe Ständer

The ultimate innovation

It’s just a small detail, but simply brilliant. Thanks to the soft stop system the feet of the bgm PRO centre stand will no longer hit hard against the footboard. Like for the PX models, the centre stand stop is now placed on the stable mounting brackets on the central frame tunnel.
The centre stand will stop at an ideal position and this will prevent the footboard from vibrating.
Thanks to the soft stop system, the centre stand will be not only less noisy when retracting but it will also protect the footboard from the cracks which are usually caused by the genuine stand.

Easy mounting, brackets also included in the item

The soft stop centre stand includes mounting brackets that are also provided with additional plates on which the stand is fitted. This prevents the direct contact between the tube of the stand and the frame of the Vespa. Unlike the genuine stand, the new bgm PRO stand will no more rub against the painted footboard.

To mount the stand you’ll need longer screws which are also included in the item. Of course you can use the genuine spring and feet of your stand, alternatively you can order them in our online shop: centre stand feet.

BGM PRO tubeless aluminium wheel rims for classic Vespa

Modern technology for oldtimer scooters. A solution which is not only adapted for Vespa scooters and which allows to adapt the old technology to the needs of nowadays road traffic.
In contrast with the charm of an old genuine steel rim (maybe even rusty), the new BGM wheel rim features many considerable advantages offered by the modern technology.
This robust wheel rim in aluminium allows you to mount tubeless tyres which are usually used in the motorcycle sector and replaces the geuine rim without any modifications necessary.

WEIGHT REDUCTION

In comparison with the Vespa PX genuine steel wheel rim, the BGM PRO rim is 600g lighter. Since you don’t need to mount a tube-type tyre, you’ll have about 370g less. The unsprung weight is reduced by almost 1kg for each axis (over 64%). Das Ansprechverhalten des Fahrwerkes verbessert sich spürbar.

SAFETY

Thanks to the double hump in the rim well the tyre always bonds to the rim safely. Like for the most recent runflat technology in automotive sector, if the tyre is punctured for instance by a nail, it loses air, but slowly and without sliding from the rim well. The tyre continues to support the vehicle’s weight and this allows you to keep control of the vehicle. The wheel rim also features cutouts between the mounting points. The cooling of the brake is improved.

The BGM PRO aluminium rim replaces one-to-one the genuine rim and fits almost all vintage scooters with manual gear change like e.g.

At present Scooter & Service is specialised in Vespa tuning, customising and production of their own vehicle line, the Scooter and Service Superflow Series, which includes scooters manufactured on customers’ demand.

Scooter and Service is a perfectly equipped workshop with an area for welding and bodywork, a wide area for repair and projects and an area provided with the Amerschläger P4 dynamometer. Smallframe, Largeframe and Wideframe?

Here in our blog article we have grouped the classic Vespa models in three categories:

The main difference is represented by the size of their frame. Largeframe models have for instance a larger frame and are heavier in comparison with the Smallframe models.

Vespa Smallframe

The genuine small Vespa models are provided with a displacement of maximum 125cc, e.g. Vespa PK 125 or Vespa Primavera/ET3.

However, the term Smallframe usually indicates 50cc scooters. The frames of the Smallframe models are narrower and lighter. On the engine side there is only a flap to reach the spark plug and other parts.

Vespa Largeframe

Vespa Wideframe

The Wideframe models are the Vespas from the early 50s: the very first models with large side panels and often with tube handlebar or headlight on the mudguard like in the rod models “Faro Basso”. All Vespas with a flap under the seat are the Wideframe models. The frames are large because of the wide engine mounting. Here some examples of this Vespa range:

Moto Nostra LED Vespa handlebar end indicators in set and with E-mark

Our Moto Nostra Vespa handlebar end LED indicators feature the classic design of the genuine HELLA indicators and the modern LED technology. The indicators have HighPower LED on both sides of a plate and they give off a much brighter light in comparison with the conventional lighting

LED indicators for Vespa are available as single part or in set with the throttle and gear change tube. The indicator lenses are available as replacement and in different colours.

DIRECT CURRENT/ALTERNATING CURRENT

The indicators fit all 6 or 12 Volt current sources, direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC). They are also provided with an integrated control electronic unit which allows to select both voltage types. Even at low tension (e.g. at a low rev range) the indicators give off a constant signal.

E-MARK

The lenses are available in different colours and of course display the E-mark, which means that the indicators are homologated for use on public roads and need no further inspection by MOT.

The indicators fit all the models which are factory equipped with handlebar indicators. for many Vespa scooters with year of construction approximately before 1980 the replacement of indicators is not problematic since we also offer you the suitable conversion kits.

OUR TIP

The indicators are fitted with a series resistor for the correct functioning of the conventional (mechanical) flasher relay and in order to get a regular intermittence. If you have optimised or would like to optimise the electrical system of your Vespa and you use an electronic flasher relay, you can remove the series resistor (this is placed in the supply cable outside the indicator body). The indicator lenses also fit the genuine indicators, but the E-mark is only valid if you use Moto Nostra LED indicators.
