This chock provides an easy and secure upright storage for your scooter:

  1. push or ride your scooter into the cradle of the chock
  2. the cradle folds forward with front wheel
  3. cradle clamps onto the tyre holding the motorcycle upright. If necessary, you can also use lashing straps.

CASA LAMBRETTA – SCOOTER & LAMBRETTA MUSEUM

Above the head offices of Casa Lambretta we have the Museo Scooter & Lambretta. In a plain builiding Vittorio has managed to create a exhibition which is unique for the quality and quantitiy of the scooters on display.

Founded in 2001 in its original location with the support of the city of Rodano, the museum was included in the province museum system Milano Città del Progetto in 2004 and since 2010 it is hosted in its present location.

THE MODELS ON DISPLAY

Around 160 exhibits exemplary document the history of the scooter. The first models were built before the Second World War, whereas the latest exhibits date back to the 70s. Besides the Italian models, Vittorio has also collected scooters produced by manufacturers from England, Germany, Austria, Spain, USA, Russia, France, Japan, Belgium, Czech Republic and Switzerland.

In the first of the five exhibition halls there are about ten Vespas from the V98 models onwards. When moving to the other halls, we pass by three Belmondo scooters from the 40s, probably what inspired Piaggio to design the Paperino.

In the halls 2 and 3 the different scooters are grouped according to year and country of manufacture. The exhibition is just impressive: from perfect restorations, scooters found in a barn and in preserved state, to new vehicles in original condition, here you can just find everything. Among the rarest models we have the Honda Juno K (Hondas first scooter dating back to 1954, the Nibbio, built in Lombardy in 1947, the Bastert monotrace or also the Auto-Fauteuil (the first scooter model dating back to 1908).

THE LAMBRETTA COLLECTION

The heart of the collection is represented by the Lambretta models displayed in the further two halls. From 1947 to 1971 Innocenti built over four millions of Lambretta scooters in the nearby factory in Lambrate. If you also add the licenced production from India, Spain, Germany, France, Asia and South America, the Lambretta represents one of the most produced scooters worldwide.

Thanks to his decade long passion Vittorio could raise a unique collection of Lambretta scooters: from the first, widely known models A with chassis number 2, to the three wheel FB Lambretta with box casing dating back to 1949, two Lambrettas series 2 with genuine paint for the Olympic games which took place in Rome in 1960, the completely gold-plated TV 175 series 3 for the actress Jane Mansfield, to different Lambrettas painted in yellow and with a four-leaf clover, reserved for the Innocenti family.

The absolute highlight are the prototypes and one-off models which would have probably not survived if Vittorio had not rescued them in time.

HOW TO REACH US

Casa Lambretta is situated in Rodano, in the province of Milan. Not far away from the Linate airport and about 15 minutes from the Centro Studi and the former Innocenti factory in Lambrate.
The city centre of Milan is 11km from the museum and Casa Lambretta, therefore easy to reach by car. If you travel by taxi it costs about 30 Euro.

Entry to the museum is free of charge.
If you hae a long journey, we recommend you to inform the museum by telephone.

Part one: who is Casa Lambretta?

Casa Lambretta was founded in 1980 by Vittorio Tessera in order to improve the spare parts supply for the Lambretta. At that time, even in Italy, the Lambretta scooter was considered as a stepchild, but today, almost forty years later, the Lambretta is more popular than ever and the Casa Lambretta has now a wide range of spare parts for the Lambretta, from the model A to the 200, you can find almost everything in our Casa Lambretta shop.

 

 

The most important spare parts supplier worldwide

However, Casa Lambretta is much more than –probably- the main supplier of spare parts for Lambretta. But we’ll tell you about that next time.

Casa Lambretta is in Rodano, a small village of the metropolitan area of Milan, not far away from the airport of Linate and about 15 minutes from the Centro Studi and the former Innocenti factory. 

This is Vittorio’s homeland and this is one of the reasons why he decided to devote himself to the Lambretta. Vittorio tells us:

„First of all I’d like to say that I don’t make any preferences, I like all scooters: Vespa, ISO, Lambretta, Moto Guzzi, Gilera. All of them are a precious and beautiful witness of a time from which we still have a lot to learn. Anyway, for organisational reasons I had to decide in which sector I could focus. Casa Lambretta moved to the current premises in 2010. Shortly after their move we visited them before the Italian summer break in order to get in a supply of spare parts and to help Julia buy her first Lambretta, a beautiful SX 150 (see article here).

Made in Italy

Meanwhile Vittorio’s 800 square metre premises include his spare parts warehouse, the workshop for his three restorers, Mario, Maurizio und Fabio (permanent employees of the company) and his new office. 95% of the Casa Lambretta spare parts is made in Italy. The small  percentage of parts bought in addition is labelled with an A which states the origin (Asia) of the product. Vittorio’s wife, Orietta, is responsible for the orders placed by the Casa Lambretta concessionaires.

On the floor above the premises there’s the Scooter & Lambretta museum. We have already written about Casa Lambretta museum, but we’ll report again about the museum, its history and exhibits.

Since the Eurolambretta 2003 Scooter Center is Casa Lambretta concessionaire for Germany and we still like to remember how we, together with our friends Roberto Graupner and Markus Fröschen, successfully concluded the deal with Vittorio in Assisi. From a mere business relationship and the love for the Lambretta we developed a long and close friendship.

Fastening the former wheel is quite easy: you just need to push or ride your scooter into the cradle of the chock. The cradle folds forward with front wheel and clamps onto the tyre holding the motorcycle upright.

In the developmentof the RaceTour cylinders Mark Broadhurst incorporated his decades of experience in the tuning of Lambretta scooters and over 1,700 tuned up 2-stroke cylinders. The bgm tuning cylinder for Lambretta are available with 195cc (Ø=65mm) for the small casings (125 – 175cc) as well as with 225cc (Ø=70mm) for the 200cc casings.

The cylinders offer significant improvements with respect to power and therefore ideal for daily use.

Power is supplied even at a low rev range and the kits offer enough torque which allow you to ride even with longer ratios. The power development is very constant which means that the RaceTour engines fell like a genuine Innocenti 200 engine but with double the power.
Like for the genuine cylinder, the carburettor is positioned at the left side. The frame or the other parts require no modifications. Therefore the RaceTour cylinder is also ideal those who want to keep the Lamnretta look unchanged but, at the same time, don’t want to forgo performance.

The kit is easy to fit and comes with all the needed studs, washers, gaskets and so on.
Update: Piston made in Italy by Meteor with running-in coating.

POWER
The plug & play clutch is fitted with soft clutch springs (BGM8010W) and is hence designed to withstand a power range of approximately 20HP/25Nm. With reinforced springs, also available separately in our online shop, the power range of the clutch increases of over 40HP.

The springs are available in the following versions:

  • BGM8010W – soft (k=4,7N/mm)
  • BGM8010L – medium (k=6,8/mm)
  • BGM8010F – hard (k=13,8/mm)

SCOOTERS

The bgm Pro Superstrong replaces the common clutch type used in all scooters of the Lambretta LI. The clutch fits therefore Lambretta LI, LI S, SX. TV (series 2-3), DL/GP models.

All CNC-machined parts of the clutch are made of 42CrMo4.

The item includes:

  • CNC rear sprocket 46 or 47 teeth
  • CNC clutch spider
  • CNC pressure plate
  • Adaptors to use the pressure plate with Li/SX and dl/GP engine cover
  • CNC machined top plate offset for more clearance between top plate and kickstart shaft
  • Six clutch dics
  • Five 1.5 mm steel plates
  • Ten clutch springs, BGM8010W (k=4.7N/mm, soft)
  • bgm PRO clutch bush

The clutch pressure plate and spider can be used with any other aftermarket 5 and 6 plate rear sprockets. As long as these are made to the original Innocenti measurements it is a straight fit. If not made to this spec some modifications might be needed.

TIP: We recommend to use a washer (available in our online shop) to space the clutch. The washer is placed under the sprocket and is available with a thickness of 0.8-1.6 mm. The overhang of the BGM hub (clutch spider) to the BGM sprocket is in the tolerance range from 0.10mm to 0.12mm.

New rectifier for Vespa (horn rectifier) bgm PRO

Vespa rectifier bgm PRO: the genuine Piaggio rectifier for Vespa PX and PK is no longer produced by Piaggio, but no worries! Here we present you our new bgm PRO rectifier for Vespa scooters with 12V alternating current (AC) on-board voltage.

Much more than a replacement for the genuine rectifier!

The newly developed bgm PRO rectifiers are already available in our online shop. Here some of the technical features:

  • Horn rectifier as replacement for the genuine rectifier for Vespa PX/PK no longer in available from Piaggio
  • Internal cutout as a protection against short-circuit
  • Integrated blinker relay for LED indicators (completely load independent!!)
  • USB output for mobile phone or sat-nav
  • Made in Germany (all items individually tested and supplied with a test protocol)

Use of the rectifier

The bgm PRO horn rectifier is designed for installation in vehicles with 12V alternating current (AC) on-board voltage and its usage is not limited to Vespa and/or PX/PK. The rectifier is not earth-connected, which means that current flows directly to the horn (via switch) and the horn output can be connected directly to the vehicle frame.

Completely load independent LED blinker relays are not easy to find. The integrated relay also works with LEDs which consume less thank 1W.

Charge mobile phone and sat-nav from your Vespa

Now you can charge your mobile phone or sat-nav while on ride and without battery. Just connect the rectifier output to the USB charger (12V) and the charger’s grounding output to the frame. The device will be loaded with up to 3A – this is sufficient for most devices for a charge from 0 to 100% in 60 minutes (the charging is disconnected when blowing the horn).

Smaller mounting form

The bgm PRO horn rectifier is much smaller than the genuine Piaggio or replicas. It can also be used on older vehicles with conversion to 12V on-board voltage without having to replace the genuine horn with an AC horn.

 

bgm PRO horn rectifier – specifics:

The BGM Pro horn rectifier is a high-quality replacement of the genuine part of the Vespa PK, PX, T5 and Cosa models which is no longer produced by Piaggio. Moreover, this rectifier also has an integrated blinker relay for LED indicators and a USB output.

  • Controlled direct current output for horn (12V DC)
  • 12V USB output up to 3A charging capacity
  • 12V blinker relay for LED indicators
  • Internal, temporary security cutout if more than 2A power flows
  • Each rectifier is individually tested and supplied with a test protocol
  • Only for on-board 12Volt alternating current (AC)
  • Designed and MADE in Germany

The bgm PRO rectifier is not just a replacement, since it has a rectifying function for direct current horn you don’t have to fit a horn with alternating current. While on ride you can charge efficiently your devices such has mobile phone or sat-nav. LED indicators can be directly connected to the rectifier and hence you don’t need to mount the conventional blinker relay. The rectifier can be perfectly used with the bgm PRO complete wiring loom (for conversion to 12V and electronic ignition for Vespa V50, PV, Sprint, Rally, VBB, etc).

Available in three versions:

  • BGM6710KT1 – with adapter wire for integration in already mounted wiring loom incl. waterproof connector plugs
  • BGM6710KT2 – with connector plugs for single wiring with direct connection to the rectifier
  • BGM6710 – version without connector plugs (as replacement for items BGM6710KT1/KT2 or if a connector plug is already mounted)

Die Ersatzteilversorgung für die Lambretta ist heute wahrscheinlich so gut wie seit bestimmt fünfzig Jahren nicht mehr. Das Angebot an Teilen diverser Hersteller wird größer und immer bunter.

Mit Grausen erinnern wir uns an die Ersatzteilversorgung zu der Zeit, als wir das Scooter Center 1992 gestartet haben. Selbst wenn die Teile mal gepasst haben sollten, changierten beispielsweise die Grautöne der Gummiteile einer Serie 3 von weißlich gelb bis anthrazit. An eine Versorgung mit Serie 1 und 2 Teilen war kaum zu denken.

Da gibt es einen Abriss der Geschichte von Casa Lambretta, die bereits 1979/80 begonnen hat. Also gar nicht so lange nach dem Produktionsende der dl/GP Baureihe. Eigentlich geht es ja um die Trittleisten von Casa Lambretta für die Li Familie. Gehen wir das mal chronologisch an.

Lambretta TV 175 Serie 1

Für die TV 175 Serie 1 ist das ganz einfach. Für das rund 10.000 Mal von 1957 bis 1958 gebaute Topmodell aus dem Hause Innocenti gibt es die

Lambretta LI Serie 1

Bei der Li der Serie 1 gibt es eine Unterscheidung zwischen den 125 ccm und den 150 ccm Modellen. Die Li 125 kommt mit durchgehenden Alutrittleisten vorne und den grauen Plastikleisten auf den Trittbrettern:

Die Li 150 Serie 1 hat vorne Aluleisten, in die Trittleistengummis eingelegt werden und die von den Trittleistenendstücken abgeschlossen werden:

Lambretta LI & TV Serie 2

Nach über 150.000 gebauten Lambrettas der Serie 1 kommt mit der Serie 2 der Nachfolger. Die Lösung für die Abstufung der Modelle durch -unter anderem- die Trittleisten wird beibehalten. Die TV 175 Serie 2 bekommt die gleichen Trittleisten und Endstücke wie die Li 150.

Lambretta LI Serie 3

Bei der Serie 3 ist es ganz einfach. Hier bekommen alle Modelle den gleichen Trittleistensatz aus Kunstoff in grau, gepaart mit inneren Aluleisten mit Gummieinlage und Trittleistenendstücken als Abschluss:

Lambretta dl / GP

Bei der dl / GP Baureihe ändert sich neben der Farbe –schwarz statt grau- eigentlich nur das Design der Trittleistenendstücke und natürlich die spezifischen Längen vorne für das andere Beinschild der dl / GP im Vergleich zur Serie 3:

Im Falle der Trittleisten aus Kunststoff für die Serie 3 darf die Detailverliebtheit sogar noch ein Stück weiter gehen. Die werden bei einem der ursprünglichen Hersteller für Innocenti auf den originalen Werkzeugen gegossen. So entsprechen sie exakt dem original in jedem Aspekt. Auch hinsichtlich der Riffelung auf der Oberseite. Ein nicht zu unterschätzender Vorteil bei einer genauen Restaurierung.

Eine gerne und kontrovers diskutierte Frage stellt die Farbe der Nähte an den Sitzbankbezügen dar. Müssten die Nähte weiß sein oder in Farbe der Sitzbank. Hierzu hat Vittorio uns ein paar originale Aufnahmen von Innocenti geschickt, an denen man schön die Farbe der Nähte erkennen kann. Schön auch in dem Foto mit den beiden Silver Specials zu sehen, dass beide Endkappen am Sitzbankriemen während der Produktion zum Einsatz kamen.

Increased start-up performance

Another significant advantage of the bgm PRO air intake hose is the drain system at the bottom of the intake hose: the fluid expelled from the carburettor does not accumulate in the hose and this prevents the idle speed system from clogging.

Polini CP carburettors

The Polini CP carburettors, characterised by their compact design, are very popular and widely used.

 

The CP carburettor can be used to replace the genuine carburettor of the Smallframe models or to get more power on Vespa and Lambretta engines: indeed, it is characterised by a compact design and therefore offers much better setup options than SHB carburettors.

bgm PRO / Marchald cooperation

We decided to cooperate with the Italian company Marchald, specialised in air filters, and to develop together what we consider the perfect air filter for the CP carburettors.

 

High quality and broad experience in air filter development

The high-quality rubber, which Marchald has used for years, can resist to steady mechanical stress and chemical exposure.

In order to ensure a perfect adherence and to prevent any risk of slippage, the rubber perfectly follows the shape of the carburettor.
Thanks to the two grooves in the rubber and the clamp (also included in the item) the air filter is stably fixed in its place.

Together with its bell mouth the rubber perfectly adapts to the special shape of the CP carburettor, a shape which increases the performance of the carburettor.

 

Air filter available in two sizes

Depending on place available to mount the filter, we have designed this air filter in two versions.

The length reported in the item description refers to the length of the filter once it has been mounted on the carburettor.

The BGM air filters fit all Polini CP carburettors from Ø17,5 to Ø24mm and are available in two sizes: 30mm and 55mm.

 

 

For Vespa Smallframe: 55mm air filter

The 55mm version is a good option for the Smallframe models. Even though the shock absorber is fully deflected, there’s still much space between the air filter and the chassis.

For Vespa Wideframe, Smallframe and Lambretta:

The 30mm version is particularly ideal for the Vespas Wideframe since they can be mounted even in small spaces.

With a length of only 30mm, this filter is short enough to prevent any crash or pressure against the carburettor flap.

 

 

If you use this filter on a Vespa Smallframe you’ll have much more space around the carburettor.

New trunnions and adjustger screws (clutch cable, brake cable, throttle) for Vespa and Lambretta in a practical set

We have optimised the trunnions and adjuster screws for Vespa and Lambretta, they’re much easier to use and more reliable!

New: now also available in a practical set.
The adjuster screw and trunnion sets, together with the transmission cables, should be in everyone’s glove compartment. These sets fit many models of Vespa and Lambretta scooters and are a useful aid in case of breakdown.

 

Trunnion/adjuster screw set -BGM PRO- Lambretta LI, LIS, SX, TV (series 2-3), DL, GP

This set is for Lambretta models and includes the following parts:

More durable inner cables

The trunnions for the gear change and clutch cables are machined from brass and are provided with small plates.

The brass has a lubricating effect in the gear box and clutch mountings. Thanks to the reduced friction of the trunnion in the mounting, the cables are less subject to stress and the risk of tearing will be strongly minimized.

In the trunnions there are small plates which protect the cables from the notch effect and, as a result, this prevents the splitting of the single filaments when tightening the screw. The inner cable distorts less and thus it can be often untied and be easily tied again. For this procedure we suggest you to use pliers for transmission cables.

The set also includes the suitable Allen key SW 3,5.

The set for the Vespa models includes the following parts:

Optimised adjuster screws

The adjuster screws of the BGM set are provided with high nuts. Thanks to this new feature, adjuster screws can be easily used also with a normal open-end spanner even in those spots which are difficult to reach. In Vespa smallframe models with two gear change cables it will also be much easier to reach the lock nut.

Optimised trunnions

The trunnions for gear change and clutch cables are now are provided with small plates machined from brass.

The small plates prevent the notch effect and also the splitting of the single filaments when tightening the screw. The inner cable distorts less and thus it can be often untied and be easily tied again. For this procedure we suggest you to use pliers for transmission cables.

The trunnion for all Vespa scooters PK-XL2, HP and Cosa FL with the so called one cable gear change are slightly different from the trunnion for the two cable gear change: diameter (Ø7mm), height (12,5mm) and wrench size (2x SW8).

Cable barrels

The cable barrels fit all BGM and Piaggio inner cables. This system allows the cable to move freely in the barrel when actioned.

The cable barrels with diameter Ø8 and height 9mm are perfect for all Vespa scooters except for PK, PK-S and PK-XL.

The cable barrels with diameter Ø9 and height 11mm fit all PK models before PK-XL2.
