Vespa & Lambretta Smallframe inner tube 3.00 x 10 bgm PRO
We have chosen a very high buty content for the new bgm PRO inner tubes in favor of better quality and higher safety and therefore a separate tube size for tires up to 3.00-10 and 90 / 90-10 = Vespa & Lambretta Smallframe. Other inner tubes with a lower butyl content have more flexibility due to a higher rubber content. They serve a wider range of possible tire sizes (up to 130 / 90-10), but as a major disadvantage, poorer air tightness and puncture resistance must be accepted.
Fitting instructions Fitting inner tube & tire
TIP: Our bgm PRO scooter inner tubes can be used in many vehicles with 10-inch tubular tires. When mounting, insert the tires at the bead with mounting paste and dust the inside of the tire with talcum powder. The mounting paste ensures the correct end position of the tire while the talc minimizes the friction of the inner tube. This maximizes the safety and life of the inner tube. Travelogue Thailand, Bangkok 2018
It is January 2021 and we are still missing the lifestyle associated with our chosen way of life. No runs, no nighters, no racing and sometimes it feels like no nothing than Covid. So, the other day we were discussing in the Skype lunchtime meeting the subject of our business travels.
We did a lot and most ended up being sweaty and covered in dust and grease or over tired on some motorways with a hangover on our way back.
One of the ultimate highlights of all Scooter Center travels has been the one to Bangkok in 2018. We had the plan to visit the dealers over there and get a better feeling for the scene in Thailand. We are in general very far from being hypercritical and see the positive things rather than negative things. A lot of the complaining in the western hemisphere is not very objective and the usual prejudice when it comes to Asia is - let us face it - copycats.
Buddy Seat Lambretta Garage
We were really looking forward to see what would be waiting for us. Our first stop after we landed was visiting Buddy seat Lambretta garage. A fantastic place with frame and fork jigs and an unbelievable level of artisanship. Starry-eyed as we are, we simply tried to find the place ourselves. The try was without any success and we had to ask a taxi driver to call the shop to find it. As things were not easy, the shop owner itself came to guide us. And hey presto, we are in town less than two hours and are escorted by a Lambretta TV 200 to the shop. Not a too bad start for the seven-day business trip. The language barrier was sadly there, but the gestures between some Lambretta nuts worked well and we made the conversation this way.
[modula id = ”100205 ″]Lambretta Thailand Cafe
As we do not want to bore you to death with every single detail, we make it short. Our second stop was the Lambretta Thailand Café that hosts as well as the Lambretta Thailand Shop of our good friend Toon, he speaks perfect English and took care of us for the rest of our stay in BKK. He really made the business trip to the perfect holiday at least for Philipp. Maybe even Ulf.
[modula id = ”100211 ″]Delivering scooter parts in Bangkok with Lambretta TV 175 and Vespa GTS
Besides our daytime entertainment in visiting dealers, Toon showed us all the cool places.
The places he brought us to deeply impressed us and showed at the same time how passionate and obsessed the folks over there are with anything Vespa and Lambretta.

[modula id = ”100214 ″]Scooter collectors
The collectors we have visited are really a class of their own and bound to them scooters and their pristine original conditions. Have a look at the funky accessories.
[modula id = ”100216 ″]Ratchada Night Market
Another great highlight and a place where we could have stayed for eternity is the Ratchada Night market. A place with a few small Lambretta shops, lots of vintage car shops, vintage stuff and clothing. Cafes, bars, amongst others at old American fuel station (demounted in the States, brought over and re-assembled) and loads of other bits to see, eat and drink.
[modula id = ”100218 ″]GO TO SCOOTER meeting in Bangkok
Also the place where the GO TO SCOOTER Runs take place and that is our ultimate dream for the post Corona time to be there. Check it out on Youtube:

Oliver Kluger leaves the Scooter Center after 29 years. Ulf Schröder continues what they have built up together.
It is 1992. In the central organ of the German-speaking scooter scene - the Motoretta Magazine - you find a message that Oliver will now officially operate the scooter and parts trade. He is known not only for his Vespa GS 160 Good thing with a Malossi engine, but also for a brisk trade in everything that made the Scooterist's heart beat faster in the 90s. Permanent trips to Italy bring supplies and with the free movement of goods in the EU in 1993, things get even more dynamic.
Soon Italy is not enough and Oliver takes the risk to order a container full of new SIL GP 200 from India. The risk pays back and the Lambrettas are indeed delivered in May 1993. The complete delivery of the 25th scooters is sold out within three weeks.
At the same time and not far away, Ulf developed a similar business model. Here, however, the focus of desire is not so much Italy but much more England, the other motherland of the cult around the Italian scooters. Just in time for the monthly appearance of Scootering - the Motoretta for England, only older and bigger - he is on the way to the ferry. The classified ads offer sufficient potential to start the return journey with more and more Lambrettas, Vespas and tuning parts from the large English Tuners and shops.
On January the 3rdrd of 1994, the time has come. Oliver and Ulf join forces and from then on operate Scooter Center Cologne in the Rosengarten. The automatic models from Piaggio join the classic Vespa and Lambretta scooters. Suddenly there is an e-mail address to order and then there is probably the First web shop for scooter parts worldwide. A remarkable success story begins.
What started out of a subculture around scooters has become a worldwide cult around vehicles with small wheels and free access way. other Scooter Center reliably supplies everyone every day.
Almost three decades are also a long time and Oliver is beginning to miss the atmosphere from the early days. Somehow, he wants to know it again. The love for the Italian icons and for traveling is unbroken and it will be interesting to see what Oliver has planned and will surprise us with.
Ulf will take over the fate of the Scooter Center on his own from 2021 and is well equipped for the probably next thirty years with his long-standing team, who have played a major role in the success story.
We wish all our customers and friends a healthy and happy 2021.
Yours Oliver & Ulf
Here we found some beautiful memories, eg:
Insights about Oliver's tattoos, the Lambretta story of Ulf & Oliver in the Motoretta… and did you know that Oliver and Ulf were involved in the founding of the Lambretta Club of Germany and were active as sports and treasurers respectively? Have a look here:
Wow - what a year!
There were some challenging chicanes put on the track for all of us. But we speeded through the winding course with a lot of dedication and mostly on our knees. the Scooter Center team stuck together and did an incredible job. In the lockdown, our shop was and is currently closed again, our solution: we now offer a Click & Collect service! Simply order online and collect your scooter from the store on the same day - important: wait for the collection e-mail. And the staff from the shop now support the team. In the LockDown there were restrictions worldwide, our solution: we switched from DHL to UPS, for example, to still make our customers happy.
We want to make you happy also in 2021 and do everything for it!
The whole Scooter Center team thanks you for your loyalty and looks forward to 2021 with you!

Still need a gift for a dear scooter rider?
Especially this year, an instant online voucher is a great idea, a quick solution and always a great gift for scooter riders. With a bit of luck, you can win a voucher yourself in ours Advent calendar. We have hidden them there along with other promotions - the grand finale: it's worth taking a look!
DHL Express Service to Great Britain and Ireland
At the moment we are facing difficulties sending parcels to Great Britain and Ireland because of the blockade of the Eurotunnel and Port of Dover due to the corona pandemic.
The only service we can offer our British and Irish customers and friends is DHL Express which is more expensive but still reasonable as each parcel is air freight.
As DHL express is calculated by volume we have to calculate each parcel manually and individually. In case that the calculated postage in the shop is not matching we will contact you and ask if you are willing to pay for the extra fee.
Big volume parcels will be too expensive but we are sure that for the real needs the postage is quite fair.
Attention: if you are living on islands or remote areas, these areas cause a high surcharge.
Please take care and stay safe
Lambretta expansion chamber and big box Clubman prototype test
Lambretta exhaust test, while the new and upcoming Lambretta Big Box is currently in production. Unfortunately, a delivery date is still unknown.
Lambretta exhausts on the dyno
Before we send the final sample to Spain, we put the new box through its paces. Additionally we have another prototype box from our friend Chalky from Replay Scooters and JPP on the dyno:
- bgm PRO BigBox Proto
- JPP box prototype
The following expansion chambers compete against the boxes:
- the TSR Evo,
- the JL3 and
- in MB3
And all three reso systems did better against the boxes than we would have expected!
The Lambretta engine
The test engine was constructed as follows:
- Cylinders: RT225 cylinder converted to reed valve (BGM2225NR)
- Crankshaft: bgm PRO 110/60 (BGM11060N)
- ignition: bgm PRO electronic AC ign ition (BGM210900KT)
- carburettor Dellorto PHBH 30
- Intake manifold: MBD with 6-flap reed valve (7672617KT)
- clutch bag: bgm PRO 6-plate clutch (BGM8011NR46)
Results & conclusion of the test
Nice and clear to see how well the box scores right from the start not only with but also with plenty of torque compared to the 'racing exhausts'.
That's what makes the bgm PRO boxes so nice to drive. There is always enough power available without having to struggle with gear connection problems or having to twist the throttle like crazy to get things moving. The moderate consumption values of the engine concepts with the bgm boxes are another advantage, apart from the original appearance and pleasant sound level. Another outstanding feature is the registered design of the mounting system with adjustment options in both horizontal and vertical directions. This allows tolerances and, above all, spacers used for different strokes and connecting rod lengths to be compensated for.

Here you can find the performance diagrams as PDF:
bgm PRO shaft seals made of high-quality and ethanol-resistant (E10) FKM / Viton® *
New: Now also for Vespa Wideframe, GS3, Faro Basso etc .: We have expanded our shaft seal portfolio with modern Simmerrings from bgm and can now offer shaft seal rings made of FKM / Viton® for almost every classic Vespa:
PERFECT SIZE
The bgm PRO oil seals have the perfect dimensions that guarantee easy installation, optimum function and a long service life. The large shaft seal on the clutch side, eg on old Vespas, has an overall height of 7 mm on the bgm PRO, instead of the 6.5 mm usually used by other manufacturers. This means that the bgm PRO oil seal is based on the original Piaggio factory specifications. If you have ever taken apart from an old and original Vespa engine, you may have noticed that a large oilseal with a height of 7mm was installed at the factory.
FLOATING CRANKSHIP
On old engines, the bearing of the crankshaft is 'floating'. This means that the bearing is not fixed and it can be moved axially (horizontally sideways) in the engine housing. This displacement occurs, for example, under load due to the axial force exerted by the helical-toothed primary drive. If the crankshaft shifts too much, this can of course affect the ignition and also the function of the clutch. The aim should therefore be to have as little unnecessary play as possible. The stop and thus the play of this floating bearing in the Vespa engines is determined only by the oil seals. The tolerances in the old engines are large and, for example, we also use thicker housing seals today, so it makes sense to use 7mm oil seals!
WHY FKM / VITON®
The material is FKM (fluorocarbon rubber). extremely resistant to
- Heat
- friction and
- Fuel
- ethanol
Even super petrol fuel E5 in Germany currently already has up to 5% ethanol admixture, with E10 it is even up to 10%, and the trend is rising. And did you know that this can vary from country to country? Have you ever noticed in France, for example, that your engine runs differently? In other countries, the ethanol / alcohol content can be significantly higher. A conventional oil seal cannot tolerate this increasing ethanol content and can swell or soften when it comes into contact with ethanol-containing fuels. The bgm PRO FKM / Viton® shaft seals, on the other hand, offer lasting protection. In addition, our simmering with Viton® is twice as temperature resistant as conventional (blue) NBR shaft seals. Further advantages of these modern shaft seals:
- extremely impermeable to gas
- and very resistant to aging
SUITABLE FOR WHAT? E10?
OK, so our radial shaft seals from bgm have
- optimal dimensions and
- most modern materials
but what are they suitable for now? An engine equipped with bgm PRO FKM / Viton® shaft seals can also be used without problems in engines that run on E10 fuel (10% alcohol content). The modern and high quality brown Viton® * sealing material is
- permanently resistant to ethanol / alcohol and
- also suitable for engines with high temperature
- and high speed.
bgm PRO FKM / Viton® shaft seals are therefore suitable for all engines! Just play it safe and install the modern Simmerrings right away. Whether for an original engine, mild tuning or extreme tuning and motorsport! For reasons of environmental protection and in favor of maximum flexibility of the sealing lip, we deliberately refrain from additionally coating the sealing lip with PTFE / Teflon® *
DOUBLE SAFE
The bgm PRO Shaft seals offer double sealing as an additional feature: All shaft seals that seal to the outside, to the atmosphere, have a so-called dust lip. This is positioned in front of the actual sealing lip and holds the seal in place
- Dust
- dirt and
- Moisture.
This further increases the very good stability.
CONCLUSION
The bgm PRO oil seal set improves the installation clearance and offers an extremely long service life due to the excellent modern materials FKM / Viton®, combined with perfect fuel compatibility: it is even E10 resistant! The oil seals replace the old ones and of course fit without modifications. Tip: We offer the Simmerrings individually as well as in sets and in sets with bearings!
Select the matching bgm PRO Simmerrings here * Viton® / Teflon® are registered trademarks of DuPont Dow ElastomersThe boss has come up with something: Lambretta Lui dyno days!
From the very beginning - since 1992 - the Lambretta has been a permanent fixture at our Scooter Center. Much has changed in almost three decades. While in the 90s it was mainly the GP and, if necessary, other Series 3 models, the complete range from Series 1 and 2, the cardan models and the Lambretta 'Smallframes' * has become more popular than ever.
Especially the small lambrettas with 50 cc displacement were completely useless until the release of the 75 Casa Lambretta cylinder in early 2009 due to the extremely modest mileage.Ulfs Lui Lambrettas on the test bench
We took the soft lockdown as an opportunity to put a part of Ulf's Lui collection through its paces. We were especially interested in how the 75cc Casa cylinder performs against the original Innocenti 75 cc cylinder. And were even surprised how well it was 75 cc aluminum cylinder performed with Nikasil coating.
In the performance chart you can see in the blue corner a completely original lui 50 C. The power curve with 2,1 HP “peak” power you have to look for at the height of the torque curve of the two 75s. The green curve with 4,5 HP at about 5.500 rpm has delivered an original Vega with SH20 carburettor. The red curve is a 75cc Casa engine. The cylinder was fired with the 15 SHA carburettor kit (main jet 68). A special feature of the engine is the exhaust of the 75cc models, which is unfortunately not available new and very sought after.
Lambretta LUI tuning configurator
The LUI engine has been assembled with the help of this configurator:
LUI tuning configuratorAdjust the Vespa ignition - but correctly!
The correct ignition timing is important for the thermal health of the engine:
- Reliability
- durability and
- full power delivery
Whoever tunes his Vespa, rebuilds the engine or rebuilds it in the course of a restoration, should not rely on the existing markings on the engine housing, the pole wheel and ignition base plate for ignition adjustment, but should measure it yourself and adjust the Vespa ignition correctly. The correct adjustment of the ignition on your Vespa engine is easily possible with these electronics ignition timing guns for petrol engines with contact or electronic ignition -> transistor ignition system (CDI ignition as in series for ET3, PK, PX, Cosa, T5 etc.) Of course this also works with the Lambretta ignitions. With these ignition pistols you can also adjust the Lambretta ignition. With these stroboscope guns you can adjust both old 6-volt and modern 12-volt ignitions!
To the ignition light guns in the shop In this video tutorial Vespa ignition adjustment we show you how Maryzabel and Alex adjusted the ignition on our Platonica Vespa: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDv-mouT_mk&t=11sComparison stroboscope ignition guns for Vespa & Lambretta
3 versions: large, small and with onboard or external battery
A super-bright xenon tube and a special converging lens guarantee optimum visibility of the fixed marks on these ignition light guns: even at speeds above 8000 rpm in the near field range. The pistol is connected by means of an inductive clamp on the spark plug cable directly to the rubber insulation, without direct contact to the stranded wire. Our ignition timing guns are equipped with a rubber coating on the lens. This protector protects the plastic housing as well as the lens and ensures the longest possible enjoyment of the product.

How to get the Lambretta gear changing work perfectly and smoothly?
We take a close look at the controls and what can be done down from the headset through the cables to the gear swivel and gear selector arm on the engine casings.
Let's face it the last Lambrettas have left the Innocenti factory half a century ago. And not everyone has been maintained and serviced regular and as it should be done. One of the many beauties on the Lambrettas is that they are very simple to work on, especially with the right tools, right parts and the right hints (Sticky). There are three areas to look at:
- Handle bar / headset
- Cables
- Engine casing
Lambretta handlebar/headset
Thru the Li family there had been different changes on the internals of the headset. On well-maintained bikes most of the time taking everything apart, cleaning and put it properly greased and lubricated can do the job. When you are up the job, it won't do no harm to renew all the bushings in the headset. These are the guides for the gear and throttle rods. Available as handy sets from Casa Lambretta:
- Li Tv Series 1 and 2: https://www.scooter-center.com/product/8800050
- Series 3 up to 1965: https://www.scooter-center.com/product/8800051
- Series 3 from 1965 *: https://www.scooter-center.com/product/8800052
* also dl / GP range
If you need additional spares a nice way to find them are our exploded views, which are online for all Lambretta scooters. Here you see the dl / GP headset:
Once everything is properly rebuild and any slack is taken out - especially of the gear change housing and the gearchange rod - you are done with the headset and can have a look at the cables.

Essential are Teflon / PTFE lined cables. These run super smooth and are maintenance free. The bgm cable sets are especially made for the Li family Lambretta and have some unique features. The right inner and outer cable lengths are granted. Here you will find additional info about how good these are: https://blog.scooter-center.com/en/cable-sets-bgm-pro-for-vespa-and-lambretta/. Back to the plot: Once you have routed the outer cables in the right way as can be seen on the bgm's fitting instructions:

- Cable set bgm PTFE inner liner - Lambretta LI, LIS, SX, TV (Series 2-3) | BGM6400N

It's time to fit the inner cables. On the brake and clutch levers use a good blob of grease to keep everything well lubricated. Especially the lever screw, the trunnion of the inner cable and all operating and moving parts.

A run-down of the inner cables with Teflon spray does no harm and especially the operating of the clutch is much more easy:

Top tip: If the bolts of the clutch and brake lever are not properly greased they can wear off the holes in the light switch housing and gear change housing. These can easily be repaired with the oversize bolt:

Lambretta engine casing
The most important thing is to avoid any unwanted slop in the gear swivel, tie rodgear change and the selector arm. Luckily there are many different choices for everyone's tasting available.

Trunnion sets
Paired with the bgm trunnions you really have a perfect and long lasting set:

This is the full bgm trunnion set:

Lambretta Tool & Tool bags
To ensure the bgm trunnions have the original 3.5 mm allen key size as found on original machines as well as on original toolbags supplied with your brand new scooter:

Something we went not original is the key for adjusting these. The bgm one comes with a ball end. This makes adjusting the gear change trunnions a cakewalk as you come across the clutch cable easily:

Top tip: For all the rusteration freaks out there that want to keep their Lambrettas as original as possible we have oversize trunnions made for preserving worn out gear swivels:
https://www.scooter-center.com/product/BGM6466P
The oversize makes the trunnions fit perfectly in used gear swivels. If necessary, grind out new shifting paddles minimally.
These perfectly compliment the inner cable sets:

LML Piaggio Vespa license buildings from India
“Lohia Machinery Limited” is the abbreviation LML. Would you have known it? And did you know that we already
traveled to India
in 2014 to see the
production process for ourselves and to visit the LML factory in Kampur?
Our “souvenir” was a few containers full of complete LML frame sets with all the necessary sheet metal parts, already painted. These body kits are a great replacement for Vespa PX frames.
A success story takes its course, but will there be a happy ending?
In 2015 we were able to unpack the first boxes and offer these popular restoration sets for the PX series.
Yes, there were rumors and somehow it was to be expected, but we were still very upset when we did
had to report the end of LML
not even 2 years later
: 2016. Since then there are only remnants of the parts, which are or were mostly a good one, often the only alternative for original Piaggio Vespa parts.
In 2019 Maryzabel has started to build Platonica based on an LML set and one of the last LML motor housings and LML fork for disc brakes. Sweetened with many great bgm PRO parts, such as the 187cc cylinder for being the heart of the whole project.
2020 - now is the time! It has come as it had to come: Also the stock of our LML frame sets for Vespa PX is now coming to an end. Just in time for the beginning of autumn we give you the chance to order the very last LML body kits.
My TIP: Buy now, before it's too late.
Now save one of the last LML frame setsLML frame set for Vespa PX under test
We use the framework ourselves for ourselves Platonica project. But also for example the Vespa youtuber Kevin, from Savage Scooters, got this frame as a replacement for a warped and rusted through Vespa PX frame. In this video he unpacks our LML frame set and shows you the quality and also the final result, which is quite impressive:
