ENIMC – XVIII National and International Meeting of Motonetas 2024 La Mesa, Colombia
Colombia has a very short history in the Vespista and Lambretta world, if compared to any European Club, but it has adopted all this culture in the best way, appropriating it and potentiating the creation of fraternity through its meetings.

There is an annual celebration that brings together all the country’s Vespa and Lambretta riders, a tradition that began in 2004 and since 2010 has adopted the acronym ENM (Encuentro Nacional de Motonetas) for inclusion with the umbrella name of all scooters with handlebar shifters and flat floor that are part of the culture (Vespas, LML, Bajaj and Lambrettas).
La Mesa, Cundinamarca
As a country with a large territory, the choice of location is always crucial. This year, 2024, the aim was to hold an international (Latin American) meeting, so the 18th edition was held last 16th and 19th August in La Mesa, Cundinamarca, two hours from Bogota, the country’s capital.
This allowed delegations from Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela and El Salvador to participate.
Antonio Andrade travelled thousands of kilometres on his Vespa PX from Peru to visit the Vespa friends he made last year and then to attend the meeting, where he met more than 200 vespa and Lambretta drivers.
Actividades
The Vespa Club Bogotá (with roots in the “Classic Scooter Group”) is the second oldest club in the country (2005), after the Vespa Club Medellín (founded in 1999), which with roots in the Vespa Club Antioquia gives its first glimpses at the end of the 60’s. Clubs that hand in hand started the tradition of meetings in the country, along with the different activities that compose it.
La Vesparada
The “VCB” (Vespa Club Bogotá) has been characterized by its insitutionality, which has given solidity to the various clubs. Despite all this rigour, the VCB never forgets to have fun and is the official organiser of La Vesparada, a track designed with the exact turning radius of our scooters to test the different driving skills.
Las Imperdibles (The Must-Sees)
An idea that emerged last year and now in its second version, is a contest that rewards the best “Motonetas” of the event in different categories.
Yellow Move
An activity proposed by the interesting community of all yellow Vespas @yellow squad, which consisted of a competition to test balance, drawing and memory skills, with a prize of an original 3D paper puzzle.
Vespas in Colombia
The Vespa market in Colombia is very different, with two crucial points:
The economic opening in the 90’s that gave rise to the importation of Vespas PX and T5 in the country, with entry mainly through Medellin and Cali and whose volume was not sufficient to sustain a representation and demand for spare parts, so their maintenance and the acquisition of parts has developed the creativity and recursion very characteristic Colombian.
The second crucial point was the official representation of Vespas in the country with the arrival of the Modern Vespa, representation that is currently in the hands of “Los Coches“, but it is the SXL and VLX from India that fill the streets, Vespas that do not exist on the European market, which again means a challenge in the acquisition of spare parts.

"El aún incipiente Vespa Club Bogotá asumió la tarea para el IV encuentro, que se llevó a cabo en la capital en octubre de 2007. Recorriendo parte del centro histórico, con rodada al norte de la sabana y rematando en un improvisado alojamiento por los lados de Villeta. Patrocinado por COBIJA (Colombia Bike Jackets) y Pirelli, alrededor de cuarenta motos tomaron parte en las actividades bajo un cielo lluvioso, pero que no logró espantar a los asistentes. El evento fue cubierto por la revista Publi Motos."

This was the first year that two meetings took place at the same time.
The traditional one in La Mesa, Cundinamarca with 200 scooters, where the modern Vespas predominated, and the Alternative one, with 167 Motonetas, which took place in La Pintada Medellín, where the classic scooters predominated.
UNA MOTONETA, UNA EXCUSA
Hoy queremos contarles de un evento que sin duda alguna es un imperdible de cada año y es que acabamos de celebrar el 18º Encuentro Nacional e Internacional de Motonetas en Colombia, el cual se dio desde el 16 al 19 de Agosto en un municipio de Colombia llamado La Mesa departamento de Cundinamarca, ubicada a tan solo 2 horas de Bogotá la capital del país; fue el lugar escogido por la organización de este evento en donde nos reunimos cerca de 200 motonetas de todo Colombia, e incluso se contó con la participación de delegaciones de México, Perú, Ecuador, Venezuela y El Salvador. Todos unidos por la misma pasión y con algo en común: ‘el amor por las motonetas’, la excusa perfecta para deleitarnos un fin de semana, rodeados de un clima cálido, las risas por doquier, la camaradería, el volver a ver a quienes no veíamos desde el último encuentro, o simplemente conocer a otro apasionado que al igual que nosotros se quizo escapar de su rutina y compartir. Donde no somos desconocidos, pues el hecho de tener una motoneta ya es sinónimo de hermandad.
Un fin de semana en el que no podían faltar las sorpresas y regalos de los patrocinadores, obviamente Scooter Center no se podía quedar atrás y estuvieron presentes fueron los encargados de obsequiar a través de nosotros una mochila super útil y practica, llaveros, libros y stickers fueron mas detalles para los asistentes, se organizaron carreras lentas a cargo del Vespa Club Bogotá y la tradicional “Vesparada” que es una carrera de habilidad en nuestros vehículos motorizados. La segunda versión de ‘las imperdibles’, un concurso organizado por Escuterista donde se premian a las mejores motos del evento en diferentes categorías. Desde Súper Motori nos apasiona crear comunidad y vemos a cada persona sobre una motoneta como nuestro motor para hacer las cosas, de trabajar para unir la comunidad, de compartir y
siempre aprender. Pero el premio mayor del evento estuvo a cargo de 4W junto con otros patrocinadores quienes obsequiamos una Vespa moderna 0 km, personalizada por el taller Container Garage con un toque exclusivo, de la más alta calidad.
Sin duda lo que mas felices nos hace es ver la sonrisa de toda esa gente que al ver el desfile de cerca de 200 motonetas porque había desde la Motovespa Española, la tradicional Vespa PX, varias Lambretta, algunas Plus tanto originales, como ‘Vespeadas’ y obviamente muchas Vespa modernas, hasta la Scomadi cromada de Carlos Esquivia estuvo presente; el tráfico detenido observando tantas motos, las personas salían desde sus casas a saludar de manera amable, quienes aprovechaban para grabar un video, tomar una foto o simplemente se atrevía a preguntar ¿de que año es la moto?, ¿que cilindraje es? o ¿que estábamos haciendo en La Mesa (Cundinamarca)?, es una grata sensación y una de las razones por las que nos gusta participar de los encuentros, pues es la excusa perfecta para darle esa chispa a nuestro corazón, que nos da ese combustible para seguir sumando kilómetros. Donde la distancia no es excusa para asistir, pues quienes participamos de estos eventos sabemos que es muy importante; no por nada nos visitan tantos extranjeros, que de seguro están muy felices y con maravillosos recuerdos, esperando desde ya el próximo, agendandose y planeando vivir nuevas aventuras y nuevas rutas.
Para nosotros es mas que gratificante lograr traer a Scooter Center de cierta forma a Colombia e incluso Latinoamérica, tener ese acceso a repuestos es lo que nos permite ayudar a que la conservación y preservación de motonetas sea posible; pero también darles cariño a las Vespa modernas que sin duda alguna están en auge hoy por hoy y como diríamos acá en Colombia ‘juguetearlas’ pues tenemos la convicción de que cada moto tiene un pedacito de su dueño y esto siempre se transmite, es su esencia.
