The transition period for shipping orders had been solved much earlier this year and shipping to England is as smooth as ever before. The main difference after the Brexit is that the VAT is been paid in England now. That means the VAT on your purchases is no longer part of the European VAT system.
Shipping costs
New is that we ship with DHL only to the UK and that the shipping costs are now £ 14.00 (15.90 €), but still for any dimensions of packing and up to 30 kg weight. There are no additional handling fees. But please note: The UK VAT has to be paid to Parcel Force.

DHL Express Service to Great Britain and Ireland
At the moment we are facing difficulties sending parcels to Great Britain and Ireland because of the blockade of the Eurotunnel and Port of Dover due to the corona pandemic.
The only service we can offer our British and Irish customers and friends is DHL Express which is more expensive but still reasonable as each parcel is air freight.
As DHL express is calculated by volume we have to calculate each parcel manually and individually . In case that the calculated postage in the shop is not matching we will contact you and ask if you are willing to pay for the extra fee.
Big volume parcels will be too expensive but we are sure that for the real needs the postage is quite fair.
Attention: if you are living on islands or remotes areas, these areas cause a high surcharge.

How to get the Lambretta gear changing work perfect and smooth?
We take a close look at the controls and what can be done down from the headset thru the cables to the gear swivel and gear selector arm on the engine casings.
Let’s face it the last Lambrettas have left the Innocenti factory half a century ago. And not everyone has been maintained and serviced regular and as it should be done. One of the many beauties on the Lambrettas is that they are very simple to work on, especially with the right tools, right parts and the right hints (Sticky). There are three areas to look at:
- Handlebar / headset
- Cables
- Engine casing
Lambretta handlebar / headset
Thru the Li family there had been different changes on the internals of the headset. On well- maintained bikes most of the time taking everything apart, cleaning and put it properly greased and lubricated can do the job. When you are up the job, it won’t do no harm to renew all the bushings in the headset. These are the guides for the gear and throttle rods. Available as handy sets from Casa Lambretta:

Once everything is properly rebuild and any slack is taken out –especially of the gear change housing and the gearchange rod- you are done with the headset and can have a look at the cables.
Lambretta cables and routing
Essential are Teflon / PTFE lined cables. These run super smooth and are maintenance free. The bgm cable sets are especially made for the Li family Lambretta and have some unique features. Back to the plot: Once you have routed the outer cables in the right way as can be seen on the bgm’s fitting instructions:

It’s time to fit the inner cables. On the brake and clutch levers use a good blob of grease to keep everything well lubricated. Especially the lever screw, the trunnion of the inner cable and all operating and moving parts.

Topp Tipp: If the bolts of the clutch and brake lever are not properly greased they can wear off the holes in the light switch housing and gear change housing. These can easily been repaired with the oversize bolt:

Lambretta engine casing
The most important thing is to avoid any unwanted slop in the gear swivel, tie rodgear change and the the selector arm. Luckily there are many different choices for everyone’s tasting available.

Lambretta Tool & Tool bags

Something we went not original is the allen key for adjusting these. The bgm one comes with a ball end. This makes adjusting the gear change trunnions a cakewalk as you come across the clutch cable easily:

Topp Tipp: For all the rusteration freaks out there that want to keep their Lambrettas as original as possible we have over size trunnions made for preserving worn out gear swivels:

The oversize makes the trunnions fit perfectly in used gear swivels. If necessary, grind out new shifting paddles minimally.

Differences Piaggio Ciao / Bravo / Si / Boxer mono drive and vario drive
Attention! The most important thing directly in advance – The components of the mono drive and the variator drive are not compatible or mixable with each other! The crankshaft is the same for both types of drive.
From the outside, this transmission ratio is most easily recognised by the side covers on the left in the direction of travel.
If the side cover also has a bulge at the back, it is a variator model.

Converter / variator
In the variator model, the converter unit with the integrated clutch is located at the rear. In the front is the variator. The advantage of the variator drive is that it provides you with a stepless automatic. When starting briefly translated, on speed long translated. Classically the German mopeds have the mono drive with 25 km/h, but there are also moped versions with the mono drive, without variator.

In the front is the clutch bell, inside the V-belt of the moped runs on a groove with a diameter of 26mm inside. (6)
The rear pulley is mounted directly onto the mono transmission. The mono gearbox can be recognized by the fact that the gearbox shaft protrudes only approx. 13mm from the gearbox and only the flat belt pulley is installed (5). This has a diameter of 90mm at 25km/h mopeds. The standard transmission of the Ciao has a ratio of 10,5:1, the Bravo has a ratio of 8,5:1

Useful upgrades or tuning of the transmission ratio
Mono transmission:
The simplest tuning to increase the top speed is to lengthen the gear ratio.
There are exactly three possibilities with the mono transmission:
- Change the front clutch, take the clutch out of the moped and put the clutch in at 30 km/h.
The standard clutch has an inner diameter of 26mm, the 30km/h clutch of 41mm. - Replace the rear pulley. The original pulley of the Ciao has a diameter of 90mm.
But only the pulleys with 70mm or 80mm are really drivable, because the suit is still acceptable here when starting. - Exchange of the transmission. To find out the gear ratio look briefly under: https://blog.scooter-center.com/piaggio-mofa-tuning-und-setup/
INFO: The standard moped transmission of the Ciao has a ratio of 10.5:1, by installing the 8.5:1 transmission of the Bravo, the total gear ratio is increased by about 20%.
TIP: Very inconspicuous because clutch and pulley can remain original.

Moto Nostra flyscreen with TÜV certificate for Vespa GTS
UPDATE GTS flyscreen
Our Vespa sports flyscreen has successfully passed all necessary TÜV tests.
The current model requires a frame, but since we prefer a flyscreen without frame, we decided to modify once again the material of the flyscreen.
The flyscreen will be only 1mm thicker and therefore no frame will be necessary. Since the thinner flyscreen has passed the TÜV material tests, we are pretty sure that also the new version will pass the necessary tests.

Moto Nostra flyscreen
Scooter Center presents its latest Moto Nostra flyscreen which will also have a certification for use on public roads. The new flyscreen fits the genuine braket for the Cruiser flyscreen but has a much more compact form than the Vespa sports flyscreen Cruiser.
