Maintenance-free fun

No battery, no petrol, no transmission oil, not even air in the tyres. But a high-quality finish that can withstand a lot:

The grey powder-coated metal rims are mounted with 4 stainless steel screws. The white wall tyres are made of black plastic. The wheels roll maintenance-free on plastic axles mounted on a metal axle. The handlebars, rear suspension and fork are hand-bent metal tubes. Each piece is hand-welded and then powder-coated in grey. The soft upholstered seat is covered with imitation leather for maximum comfort and an old-fashioned look. The handles are made of black plastic.

I work somewhat everywhere. I focus on IT, mainly interfaces and data streams. In terms of technology I clearly prefer classic Vespas.

What’s your relation to scooters:

My first vehicle was a Vespa. At the age of 18 I bought my first PX. Then the first Malossi cylinder lasted for about 2 days…
This scooter is still with me, but I have added another dozen geared scooters to my fleet. I spend a lot of time with time-consuming restorations and am always on the hunt for technical improvement. There is less and less time every year, but it’s sufficient for 2-3 meetings or runs per year.

Why:

When possible I use special tools to facilitate work and more importantly, to not damage anything while working. It’s an investment that always pays off.
I have not been able to decide for a clear preference, I therefore recommend several tools:

Basically anything related to technical scooter equipment.

What’s your relation to scooters:

I still have my first scooter – a typical PX80. Some PX200, also with sidecar, a T4 from 1961 (my oldest scooter), an ET3, V50S, V50Special and more complete my fleet.
During ESC racing weekends and for long distance races I also ride a PK-XL.

Racing is one of my favourite past times.

Gudgeon pin puller -UNIVERSAL- Ø=13, 15, 16, 19, 22mm

Why:

Bummed worn or tight gudgeon pins are a nightmare. The puller eliminates the danger of accidentally bending the connecting rod of the crankshaft.

Gudgeon pin puller

This awesome tool extremely simplifies pulling the gudgeon pin. This tool is perquisite when it comes to vehicles, which can only be worked on from one side. Take Vespa PX, for instance. The gap between frame and cylinder is very small, making it almost impossible to use pliers. A very tight gudgeon pin can also be a problem when working on the engine placed on a workbench. If you want to pull the pin, you will have to support the connecting rod and the piston in order to put no pressure in the connecting rod bearing and/or the thrust washer.
The Buzzetti tool solves this problem by resting on the piston. The pin is pulled with a suitable taper adaptor with internal thread. This process resembles unscrewing a simple screw. It is extremely simple and still highly efficient. Defects to the crank drive are prevented in the first place and an exchange is a lot easier.

Supplied with taper adaptors with the following diameters:

Even Martin Cook of Chislespeed (GB) said in Scootering magazine no. 308 that it was his favourite tool!

I ride Vespa since 1989 and my first scooter was a V50N. I currently ride a Primavera and owed various scooters such as T4, Lambretta, PX, PK. I have never been member in a club and I recall many great experiences with scooters like Renesse 1992 or any HiH meeting. Since 2009 I take part in racing -my favourite being the 24h race in Spain.

Why:

Generally speaking I think these levers are simply the best in terms of style and comfort.

Levers for Vespa

Levers by GRAND-SPORT fit every Vespa PX (up to 1998), Rally, Sprint, V50, PV125, ET3 models.

Better ergonomics, available in various colours. Lever available individually – so after falling, you can replace the one broken lever only.

High production quality, CNC finish.

The levers also fit Vespa PK S and PK XL1 models (not suitable for XL2 models with choke lever at the handlebar).

I ride scooters since 1984. I started with a Zündapp R50 (former police scooter). At the age of 18 I got my first Vespa, a 200 Rally, and two years later my first Lambretta (Lui 50). My oldest scooter is a Lambretta B from 1950, my youngest a Piaggio ZipSP with 172 Malossi engine.
My greatest scooter experiences were the ride with my Rally 200 to Italy aged 19, meetings in England and Customshows in the mid 80s and 90s and every Eurolambretta. Visiting vintage markets before the age of the internet and journeys with friends to Italy and England to look for scooter bargains.

I ride scooters since 2004. My first scooter was a Gilera Runner FXR with an enormous acceleration and speed that filled me with enthusiasm. This was also true for others, so sadly it was gone one day… :-(

Therefore the “GRIP-LOCK” lock for brake lever is my gift idea.

It is small and quickly put in place and taken off. At the same time it’s robust and almost impossible to break.
Compared to brake disc locks, it is impossible for you to forget to take off the lock before going for a ride.

Had I had this lock, I would probably still ride my FXR!

ASSEMBLY
Putting the Grip-Lock in place and taking it off takes less than 10 seconds.

PROTECTION
The Grip-Lock comes in a bright colour and is easy to make out on the handlebar. That scares potential thieves off immediately! But naturally, that alone is not enough: The Grip-Lock’s interior consists of four strong steel bolts made from tempered spring steel, that effectively prevent theft with the help of a saw or other cutting tools. Thanks to its reinforced nylon-fiber outer cover it is absolutely stainless.

SECURE
With the throttle secured, it is impossible for you to forget to take off the lock before going for a ride. In regard to brake disc locks or other external locks, a forgotten lock can cause severe damage to the vehicle.
BASF-special nylon featuring fiberglass reinforcement that is used for Grip-Lock is 200% stronger than ordinary multi-purpose plastics and makes the security device especially strong and rigid.

CLEAN
Grip-Lock is cleaner and easier to use than complicated and messy brake disc locks or chain locks that first need to be squeezed between the frame or spokes.
