Vespa Wideframe models are more popular than ever.
There are not only refined new spare parts on the market, but also development in performance increase.
Existing cast iron cylinders have been refined to wring a little more performance out of them with a rather high input of work.
Pinasco will soon offer a new aluminium cylinder with 160cc for the old Vespa engines with 3 studs.
Our loyal customer Andreas Nagy has always been a good friend of this slightly particular Vespa model. He puts a lot of effort in increasing performance of the Wideframes and closely cooperates with Pinasco.
He visited us on our dynamometer with a prototype of the 160cc V2 cylinder.
We would have liked to take an even closer look on the 160 Pinasco.
Sadly the prototype of this cylinder remained hidden under the cylinder covering.
Andreas and we have tested some exhausts on our Scooter Center P4 dynamometer. For example a BGM PRO BigBox Touring exhaust for PX models, whose suspension we have modified to make it fit a Wideframe.
Sure: a Malossi MHR reaches more than 35HP almost easily on a PX. Compared to this, the 10 horses of a Pinasco racing cylinder won’t take anyone’s breath away. But, please, don’t forget the original “performance” of Wideframes! Original 5HP would have a top speed of about 70km/h on a plain track.
With now 10HP on the 8 inch small rear wheel and a corresponding primary reduction, you may expect more than 100km/h. Just like for an original PX200 for instance.
We are looking forward to the potential of the Pinasco cylinder.
You will of course be kept up to date: here in the Scooter Center Blog!
We now offer a great alternative to paper gaskets for tuning kits (Polini, Malossi, Quattrini, Pinasco, Parmakit). New highend lasercut gaskets:
As perfect replacement of the original gaskets we continue to recommend BGM PRO silicon gaskets for Vespa and Lambretta.
Our product range includes cylinder base gasket sets by “Der Dichter” for any common Vespa cylinder. The supplied gasket set includes a gasket in three different strengths:
Perfect to precisely adjust the cylinder trigger delay angle and/or the squish gap. You can buy the gasket sets in the Scooter Center Shop.
You have ported your cylinder and maybe even welded the casing? These still are the right gaskets for you:
All gaskets have a surplus of material compared to the original gaskets, which leaves you the choice for customizing:
We now offer gasket sets and individual gaskets for Pinasco casings:
These are made of Abil® N, a material which is of higher quality than the Pinasco version – Pinasco ‘only’ supplies brown paper.
We are now able to deliver high quality gaskets for the Quattrini M200 cylinder at a fair price:
Abil® N is based on cellulose fibres bound to NBR.
Abil® N is primarily used to block hot and cold oil, fat, fuel and coolant with corrosion blocker. Usually used in control casing, gearbox, valve cover, oil pan,
hydraulic and pneumatic systems, chemical devices, pumps and compressors.
Spec sheet: DOWNLOAD
We recommend to install the gaskets dry or if need be with a little bit of grease on both sides.
The great Lambretta meeting in Geiselwind / Germany has just ended. But it’s already time to start planning for next year.
Eurolambretta 2017 will take place from 2nd to 4th of June at the Adria International Raceway::
(Località Smergoncino, 7, 45011 Cavanella Po, Adria RO, Italy)
The parallel event for Vespa in 2017 will take place in Germany: Vespa World Days 2017 in Celle
On 26.-28. August (bank holiday weekend) Spirit of 84 Scooterists organise an international scooter rally in Kronenberg near Venlo, Holland.
The first Venlo rally started in 1993 and, along with the Speed Demons SC rally in Borculo, it became part of the original Holiday in Holland. Scooterists from all over Europe gathered – mainly from Germany, Austria, Benelux and Britain – to enjoy a great party. If you can remember it you weren’t there, a circumstance which, unfortunately, ended in a “compulsory break”.
Fast forward 20 years. In the middle of a hazy night the old organisers had a clear epiphany: ‘Let’s revive Venlo again.’ Since 2013 the event is back on and keeps growing. Last year more than 1300 people attended, many of whom were already there in the nineties with most arriving on two wheels, which makes it the largest independent rally on the continent.
Bringing back the spirit of the olden days is also reflected in the programme. The main floor features scooterist’s classics like Soul, R’n’B, Ska/Reggea, Brit Pop, Madchester and more. If you are more inclined to party full-on to electronic beats from four-on-the-floor to hardcore come and join us on the indie/alternative floor. Sounds are by courtesy of British and international veteran rally DJs. Please note: Kids should be kept off the site at night time.
The entertainment during Saturday daytime also uses the old template from a couple of decades ago; like a custom show and a beach area to chill and enjoy fresh cocktails. There is a versatile food offering from a genuine Belgian chippy to healthy stuff for vegetarians/vegans. Incidentally, we’d like to stress that, just like the clean showers and toilet facilities, the organisers are aware the latter are NOT authentically nineties so please do accept their apologies.
On top of that there is a horse power shoot including FREE Dyno runs! The most powerful contender wins a trophy. And, of course, there will be the obligatory fun games – we shall say no more…
For many a highlight is the grass track racing, becoming ever more popular from year to year. Fast pilots ride along with total novices, which is why the grits are being made up by lap times in the qualifying. The rules couldn’t be simpler: You’ll need a scooter, a helmet and protective gear – ideal for newbies. So just run wotcha brung, no need to pre-apply, simply let us know on-site.

We supply a selection of our high-quality BGM PRO Lambretta products to the Casa Lambretta Racing Team of Vittorio Tessera.
The racing team is very successful and currently scores wins all across Europe. We are glad to be allowed to contribute with our BGM parts. The following parts are fitted in the racing Lambrettas:
That was an appropriate 50th anniversary party of LCD (Lambretta Club Germany): Eurolambretta 2016 in Geiselwind!
Of course we have been part of the celebrations and have presented our most current BGM developments to the Lambretta world. Nicest weather attracted many visitors and we met many interested guests at our booth and had great talks with our customers.
We have been present with an advance publication of our new BGM catalogue and a wide range of Lambretta parts. We have been able to help many guests, who had come from far away, at our booth or with our express services and deliveries directly to this location. These are our impressions of the event:
Brake drums, cylinders, engine casings – studs are everywhere. Mounting usually includes the locknut method. And we have even seen the use of pliers… But this can be prevented:
Exchanging studs is easy when using a tool with tight grip.
Our stud installer has been designed to meet the demands of classic scooters.
No size has troubles with a short thread and can be used in small spaces without worries.
Please note: The mounting tool doesn’t need a long thread. You should therefore make sure that the minimum engagement depth is met.
Studs in the engine casing or the cylinder outlet are one example for special cases. These are tight spaces and the studs are very short. A standard roller type stud extractor would definitely lead to damages of the thread or will be limited in use, due to a lack of space.
Our BGM tool doesn’t strain the thread of the stud. The actual grip comes from the integrated ball, which grips the head of the bolt.
These helpers are small and therefore easy to store in the luggage box on any tour.
These stud installers are available as set or individually in M6, M7 and M8.
Smart tool by BGM for damage free mounting and dismounting of studs.
Screw the BGM PRO tool to the stud and lock it with the integrated hex socket screw. Thus gripping the thread of the stud. Now turn the outer sides of the key. The stud is fixed and will either be loosened or tightened. Watch for a sufficient lock for a tight grip of the tool.
Perfect for short bolts (as for Lambretta gear box covers). Minimum length of free thread of stud: M6 / /M7 = 6,5mm M8 = 9mm.
Available individually or as set.
Rare thread size M7 also available!
Necessary additional tool: Ring / open end wrench: WS19, hex wrench: 6mm
This handy oil squeeze jug by BGM Pro is two-in-one:
So this jug is oil can and oil mixing jug in one!
You fill the upper dosing chamber by applying pressure on the lower part of the bottle. Lines in 5-ml-steps mark the content. Once you measured the liquid with these marks, you can easily empty the chamber. The one of the large 1 litre jug holds 60ml oil – enough to mix 3 litres of fuel at a mixing ratio of 1:50.
A second lid tightly closes the rest of the bottle. No need for another measuring jug which makes you gain more space in the scooter. You can refill oil at any time through the two screw tops.
Material: HD-PE polyethylene, high density
Nominal volume in ml: 500 / 1.000
Shape: round oval
Lid: screw top
Colour: PE nature
Opening: narrow neck
Flat black is a current trend. We supply this mirror for modern Vespa models. It is an original looking high quality product. The discreet, high quality look in flat black is the special characteristic of these mirrors.
With COC – road legal!
Tipp: Inexpensive and great alternative for the original part!
You rather prefer 100% original looks? We also offer this mirror in chrome!
The ECE mark of the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) is also referred to as
You will find this ECE mark on any item, which has been approved according to ECE regulations. The registration is not restricted to the issuing country but cross-border approved.
You will recognize those products with an ECE mark in our shop when clicking on characteristics of the product in question.
Please turn to your authorities to find out if you are also allowed to use an ECE labelled item without special mention in the vehicle registration papers.
The ECE registration mark is always made up of a capital “E” and a one- or two-digit number. Followed by a combination of digits/letters. The number following the “E” indicates which country approved the item.
You will find the EEC approval mark on those parts, which, oh wonder, have been registered according to EEC regulations. This is also a cross-border approval.
The number following the “e” indicates to the country of registration.
An EEC approval mark is always made up of a box surrounding an e and a key figure of one or two digits indicating which country approved the item (instead there might be an abbreviation for countries without allocated key figure). Next to the box is a combination of numbers.
We like this lock by MasterLock for its extraordinary cuff design.
It’s not only about looks but it also has a very high safety classification. Revolving joints prevent a fixed anchor point. The safety lock is made of hardened steel with high-tech ABS coat and is supplied with 4 keys.
The Masterlock Street Cuff with 9 chain links also perfectly fits a Lambretta thematically. But the Masterlock 8290 also offers perfect protection to any Vespa and any other scooter. The cuffs take perfect hold of fork or crank and therefore prevent theft of the loved and valuable scooter.
Thanks to the cuff design the scooter lock is very handy using only a little space in the glove box. The lock is made of hardened steel and tightly locks with 10 pin cylinders.
Handy lock with sensational looks for any scooter, seems to be very safe. Chain links are very massive and the lock is easily moved. Another advantage: the lock folds away nicely.
The recommended retail price of the manufacturer exceeds 100 Euros.
Our price (as of 23.06.2016) only 79,00 Euros plus shipping fees
You will have to be a little patient until the new BGM catalogue 2016 will be available in its final print version.
The really big highlights like cylinders, exhausts and suspension parts are accompanied by many small big highlights, which might not be seen on first glance.
We have compiled a selection of new “small” BGM products for you:
Prices for “real vintage vehicles” like Rally, Sprint, GS and Co. are rising. But so are prices for Vespa PX and PK. It’s been a while that PX and PK models have been intensively restored. We are working on making long vanished parts to be made available again, like this light switch for Vespa PX and PK. It hasn’t been available for years, but now in stock again by BGM:
This often is the botched-job of restoration. New and fast engine, body and paint nice and shiny – but stuck to the old cables, this will lead to trouble. But this can be prevented!
We offer complete and fitting wiring looms for your scooter! Making an exchange easy as!
Speedo cables are new to the BGM product range. We have them produced according to Vespa / Piaggio or Lambretta / Innocenti models.
This unspectacular cable hasn’t been available for ages, even though it often breaks. This cable reconnects your fuel gauge with the display in the speedo!
Currently everyone is turning to France, first due to Vespa World Days and now European Football Championship. You will find the video of the VWD 2016 here:
Next year the world will be turning to Germany:World Football Champion, European Football Champion and Vespa World Days 2017 in Celle :-)
We can no longer imagine a life without navigation systems and cell phones. I consider the use of smartphones with GPS as navigation system very smart. I want to use it, but where to put the expensive smartphone for it to be safe? And how to charge it?
This support can be used to attach any smartphone with a screen size of up to 5.5” to your Vespa, providing that there are two M8 threads below the handlebar for mirror screws (e.g. Vespa PX, T5, Sprint, V50, Primavera…).
Also available without neoprene bag and for smaller smartphones / cells -> 5” displays.
No problem! All you need is a suitable voltage regulator and a USB port!
We recommend our extremely small voltage regulator for all ignitions with 12 volt. The regulator supplies alternating current and optionally direct current. This turns the regulator in the perfect and reliable replacement for any common voltage regulator and in an up to date add on to the existing electronics of your Vespa, to charge a navigation system or your cell-/ smartphone and the likes.
Connecting the regulator to the existing wiring loom is easy as pie: For an entire AC system you will need regualted AC current on the wires for the electronic consumers. For systems with AC and DC, you will need to differentiate between AC and DC and wire accordingly.
You will find some wiring examples here (in downloads on the right).
Great USB plug with two USB slots to connect to a 12V-24V motor bike-, scooter-, ATV- or car battery. Waterproof seal, therefore may also be used on boats or for camping/outdoor activities! Perfect to charge devices like cell phones, smartphones, notebooks, iPads, iPhones, iPod Touch, Sony, Nokia, HTC, Samsung, GPS, MP3 players, PDAs… on board of any vehicle with a 12-24Volts electrical system.
Once integrated in the 12V system, you can use two USB slots at the front.
In single use, one slot supplies 5V/2,1A.
Using both slots, each slots supplies 5V/1,0A.
Blue LED lights: A permanent blue backlight (LED) helps to see the slots in the dark.
Needs to be connected to the plus wire of the wiring loom connected to the ignition (red wire to live wire when ignition is on, black wire to mass/frame).
You will find information on the best way of taking luggage in a Vespa with a high quality bag (transporting luggage on a Vespa) and on how to increase fuel range with a small jerry can: jerry can for Vespa glove box.
Just in time for the summer season our BGM Superstrong clutch for Vespa largeframe is available again. The robust and reliable clutch is very much sought after, leading to having been sold out for a short time.
From now on we will deliver the BGM Superstrong and the Superstrong CR with a new generation of steel plates. Did you know, that there is a best order of assembly for the steel plates?
The new clutch comes with each plate being clearly marked with the correct position of the plate.
We have revised all plates and optimised their fit.
The plate on position two has now got a defined curve at an individual radius in order to generate smooth disengagement behaviour with any load.
The steel plates are series tested for smooth running and planar surface, as well as for quality of material and hardness. All steel plates achieve values around 10hrc.
Apart from optimizing steel plates, nothing was changed in the proven concept of Superstrong clutches for Vespa PX, T5, Sprint, Rally…
We’re way in the season! Many scooterists are currently on their way to the Vespa World Days in Saint Tropez / southern France. Next year the distance will be shorter for those Vespa fans coming from Germany. Vespa World Days 2017 will take place in Celle / Germany.
No matter where to, a scooter tour with friends always is great fun. And the perfect equipment adds to the fun and makes the journey also a lot safer!
Packing correctly is crucial. You should tighten your luggage as central and securely as possible to your scooter. Best would be a bag, which lasts at least as long as your Vespa: the SEA’N’SAND T-Bag Vespa travel bag.
Have you ever had a breakdown due to an empty tank? Our loved scooters often don’t have the largest range, which might be even less after some tuning. We therefore recommend: the durable and safe mini fuel reserve, which also fits in the smallest luggage or helmet box! The scooter jerry cans with 1, 2 or 3 liters volume fit in the glove box of a Vespa PX, T5, etc. See pictures:
When it comes to Vespa, Pinasco increases work on older Vespas like Faro Basso, Struzzo, GS3…
The rear shock absorber for wideframe Vespa models is their great new product.
The Pinasco shock absorber fits those wideframe Vespa models, which do not have spring and absorber mounted individually in the rear shock absorber, without the need for further work on lower or upper shock mounts.
You may adjust spring preload and adapt the shock absorber to your individual preferences or varying load conditions.
The shock absorber is made in Italy and available in plain black. This makes the shock absorber fit discreetly in the general looks of a classic Vespa.
The two lock nuts only come to your attention on a second glance.
When exchanging the shock absorber you should also take a look at the upper silent rubber.
We asked our friends of the Rimini Lambretta Centre to build a BGM cutaway engine as demonstrator for our high quality BGM Lambretta parts.
We supplied all the necessary parts and first of all the team of Dean Orton dismounted all of them and put them in acid for cleaning. 40 hours of work later this masterpiece was accomplished. We would like to share pics and a video with you.
We presented the engine on our Scooter Customshow in Cologne for the first time. You have missed the show? Your next opportunity will be our Scooter Center ClassicDay on 11th July in Bergheim Glessen.
