Isle of Wight Rally
Andy, who is on his way for Scooter Center to tour the UK with our Generation XI and bgm our test bike, had started at our shop in Glessen to make his way to the Isle of Wight Rally. A little summer road trip via Belgium and France. In France, route took him along the Normandy coast up to Cherbourg.
From here he took the ferry to Portsmouth and from the ferry to the Isle of Wight.
First thing to do after arriving on site was to find a place on the and first friendships were already formed.
In the following days our bgm test bike was thoroughly tested by the rally participants and one could clearly see the enjoyment in every face.
Our new bgm catalogue was really appreciated and people could check what we have developed.
Next on the list was the International Scooter Custom Show on Saturday.
Our Generation XI Vespa demonstrator was meant to exhibited at the Custom Show. Unfortunately the side panel got lost during an extensive test drive which could not be found again. So we had to find a solution. The maestro of the paint gun Mr. Pfeil had painted our demonstrator ut his company is based in Austria. Here we got luckily support from our good old friend Stoffi’s garage who is based in Austria as well and he was able to forward side panel to the painter. Via Express delivery we got it right in time to pass it over to a scooter group from Aachen who could pass it over to Andy right in time for the custom show.
Our demonstrator was a real eye-catcher. There were many compliments and astonished faces. And all the trouble and the last-minute action with the side panel did pay off at last. We managed to win the category “Best Vespa Street Racer”. It is great to see our demonstrator project being acknowledged abroad.
From there Andy continued his trip back to the English mainland in order to get via Wales to Mersea Island. Here is a picture of our test bike at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales.
The Mersea Island Rally celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year. There are many visitors expected and many come just like Andy directly from the Isle of Wight Rally. First Andy found an accurate campsite and then was having a look around.
The weather is pleasant. No rain yet, but a nice breeze. Something different for us from mainland Europe and a really great location for a Classic Scooter Rally.
To be continued…
