Cologne - Milan - Gorizia - Ried - Cologne

9 July 2010, 11 pm - the team of Scooter Center hits the road to visit Casa Lambretta, dispose of two rusty Lambretta mopeds, pick up an SX 150 in Gorizia and deliver a Vespa in Ried. 23 hours and 2500 km later at 7 am on Sunday, we were already back in Cologne, reflecting on our journey over a cup of Cafè ...

On Friday night, the three of us started our little trip to Italy via Switzerland. Once we got there, we had breakfast in style in an “Autogrill” - typically Italian. After some stop & go traffic outside of Milan, we finally got to Casa Lambretta just in time. Julia and Ulf the 2ndnd were flabbergasted by Vittorio's neat collection. No wonder with more than 1000 parts of his own Casa Lambretta range! At the same time, we loaded the Scooter Center van with our order before going back to Vittorio for a guided tour of his museum. By now, it should have moved into the new building with his shop.

Despite the brutal heat, humidity and the fact that it was the weekend, Vittorio patiently showed us his humble collection. He even put up with all of my weird, annoying questions. Luckily for him, we were under a bit of time pressure and had to move on.

During the drive from Milan to Gorizia towards the east coast, there was quite some excitement if Julia's SX 150 would live up to the high expectations raised by the promising pictures. And indeed - what a beauty! Nearly flawless stock condition, unspoilt, with only one previous owner. To top it off, the sellers were really nice. With a lot in common, we decided to swap contact details, invited each other to visit and exchanged a couple more stories.

In Austria, we enjoyed the local cuisine with some pancake soup, schnitzel and “Radler”. After that, we quickly dropped off the Vespa before striking out for home for some relaxation at the Rhine ...

What a great trip!
